As a teacher, Mack's goal is to provide his students with the skills and knowledge to be lifelong musicians. He takes pride in customizing a personal curriculum for each and every one of his students in order to meet their musical interests and needs. 

 

A former music theory tutor at Portland State University, Mack emphasizes music fundamentals (theory, ear training, and rhythm) in all of his lessons. Special attention is given to reading standard notation and lead sheets, in addition to tablature, so that students can become well-rounded and literate guitarists.  

 

Students will also be exposed to various styles of music and will learn to develop the technique and ability to play in a variety of settings, whether it's strumming along to a pop song, mastering a classical piece, working up a rock solo, or improvising on a jazz standard. 

 

Mack enjoys working with all ages of students, children to adults. He currently provides private lessons throughout Portland.
